Le Relais de la Poste
Creative Alsatian · Strasbourg · La Wantzenau (~12km NE of Strasbourg) · Michelin One Star · Chef Thomas Koebel
Le Relais de la Poste is a historic 1789 half-timbered inn in La Wantzenau that earned its first Michelin star in 2023 under chef Thomas Koebel. Koebel's cooking is proudly Alsatian: he champions local produce over imported fashion, preferring horseradish to wasabi, working extensively with foie gras and offal. His signature dishes include goose foie gras from Hirsch farm with Berawecka fruit chutney and puff pastry pretzel, scallops with celery remoulade and roasted apple, and a crispy egg with artichokes and truffle. The historic building, with 18 hotel rooms, is 12km from Strasbourg.
