About Yannick Germain

Yannick Germain is a 4th-generation chef-owner of a family restaurant founded in 1893 — 130 years of continuous family service. He took over alongside his mother Christiane in 1998, succeeding his grandfather Wolfgang Sautter, and took full management with his wife Claudine in 2005. His Michelin star was awarded in 2015, marking 10 consecutive years in 2025. An avid scuba diver, Germain brings an unusual expertise in seafood to an inland Alsatian setting — his Breton maritime preparations are markedly different from the region's freshwater tradition. He won the prize for best foie gras in Alsace in 2014, and his daughter Charline is now training in the kitchen as the 5th generation.
