About Ron Hsu

Lazy Betty's name comes from a playful, non-pretentious spirit — it is a serious tasting-menu restaurant with a casual attitude. Hsu's Chinese heritage appears in unexpected ways: fermented ingredients, rice-based preparations, bold umami structures — Chinese culinary logic expressed through French technique and American ingredients.

Ron Hsu co-founded Lazy Betty with Aaron Phillips in 2019 in Midtown Atlanta, earning a Michelin star in October 2023. His contemporary tasting menu draws from classical French training and Chinese heritage — a fusion of backgrounds that produces original, memorable combinations. Lazy Betty represents Atlanta's new generation of ambitious, personal fine dining.
