The Yeatman is built into the hillside above the Douro river, facing Porto, surrounded by the port wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia. Costa's menus are inseparable from wine: every tasting menu is designed as a wine journey through the Douro, Alentejo and Vinho Verde. Few restaurants in the world are as physically embedded in their wine region as The Yeatman.

Ricardo Costa, born and raised in Aveiro, Portugal, is Executive Chef at The Yeatman Hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia since its opening in 2010. He holds two Michelin stars and is one of Portugal's most respected fine-dining chefs, known for menus that celebrate Portuguese produce and wine culture, particularly the wines of the Douro.
