About Peter Cuong Franklin
Born near Đà Lạt where his mother ran a noodle stall, Peter Cuong Franklin was airlifted from Saigon at age 12 in 1975 and adopted by an American naval family. He graduated from Yale and built a finance career before pursuing culinary arts at Alinea (Chicago) and Nahm (Bangkok). He returned to Vietnam in 2017 to open Ănăn, earning HCMC's first Michelin star. His approach, 'Cuisine Mới', applies French techniques to Vietnamese street food.
